Henry/Knoppel Wedding :: 06.07.08

Naples, FL - This wedding was very special for me. After all, I have known the groom, Don, since the 7th grade. When he asked me to be the one to capture the most significant days of his life, I had to stumble over myself to say “yes”. This was our first destination wedding with the ceremony and reception being held at the Naples Grande Resort in sunny Naples, Florida. Almost too sunny (is that possible on a wedding day?). It was hot, but pleasingly, not nearly as hot as in NJ at the time of the wedding. How often can you fly to Florida in June and actually beat the heat? My guess is not to often.

Young/Dishon Wedding :: 07.11.08

Toms River, NJ - You don’t get much better weather then this.  Low 80s.  50% Humidity.  Not a cloud in the sky.   It was basically the day everyone is hoping for when they get married.   And it couldn’t have happened to a nicer couple.  Becky and Mike are wonderful together.   They have a chemistry between the two of them that does not come around very often.  A chemistry that will last a lifetime.    It’s couples like Becky and Mike that make this the best job in the world.  You can’t help but be happy when you see them together.

It’s a toss up for the best moment of the night between the 13 minute rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Freebird” which consisted of the groom and company playing air guitar for the entirety of the song, or the equally amusing moment where Mike and Becky danced enthusiastically to the Sugar Hill Gang’s “Apache (Jump On It)”.  I couldn’t help but remember this scene from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air which got me laughing even more.

Beyond the dancing antics of Mike and Becky, we introduced for the first time the Inlight Studios PhotoStation at this wedding reception. It was an overwhelming success and we couldn’t have asked for more. There was a constant flow of people, some of which came back multiple times.  The pictures we got with the PhotoStation alone are enough to keep Mike and Becky laughing for years to come!

The hotel was gorgeous.  The preparations were all done in a cavernous suite overlooking the beach.  From there it was on to the lobby for some formals, then out to the beach for the ceremony.   The beach was actually a half a mile or so from the hotel past a marsh-like area, so we needed to take a short tram ride to get there.    Once there, we were greeted to a fantastically serene setup right on the water.    The wedding went off without a hitch and after another round of formals, it was off to the ballroom for the dinner reception.
This wedding was about as memorable as they come for a photographer.  I can only say to the new Mr. and Mrs. Henry, thank you for allowing me to be a part of it!
